I’m a public health professional focused on the link between research and practice, and my research explores community settings and partnerships in public health.   Being able to understand a target population’s story is critical for developing appropriate research questions, creating effective interventions, and disseminating findings to the right audiences. My goal is for my research to lead to programs that empower individuals and communities to take action to improve their own health. I am not currently recruiting research participants, but check back soon!

Ongoing Projects:

PRIDE:
I’m thrilled to be a part of NHLBI’s PRIDE training institute. This year I’m part of the 11th cohort of PRIDE fellows at the Behavioral Medicine and Sleep Disorders Training Institute. My plan is to spend this year doing formative research in order to develop a tobacco and nicotine prevention and cessation intervention for college students.

Mavs for Clean Air:
A research and advocacy project with Dr. Mary Kramer of Minnesota State University, Mankato. After updating the University’s tobacco policy to reflect current best practices, we are currently working on implementation of the new policy. We’re sharing findings from our advocacy research; in December 2023 we published a paper on our photovoice work and more articles are coming soon!

Know Better, Live Better:
This research and evaluation partnership with Westchester Department of Health began as part of a federally funded initiative to increase health literacy and decrease COVID-19 disparities (overview of initial initiative).
Although the initial funding period has ended, we’re continuing Know Better, Live Better with the goal of building new partnerships and continuing dialogue to support Westchester County residents in making their own health decisions.
